This is from Western NY. I think it is a red horse but I don't know which one. If you need more pics, I could try to get them. What should I do with it? It got washed downsteam in a flood and is now in a stream that is too small for it.

Mouth looks river. But that is out of your range. Go to default golden. Probably someone else can help you better.

See the discussion in the thread, http://forum.nanfa.o...with-black-lips I think yours is a golden based on the link's lip photos, as Matt pointed out that's pretty much the default species in a wide area.

Well, what should I do with it? It is about 16" long and the creek it's in is only about 5" deep on average. If I leave it there, it will die. I checked in my book and it says Golden has 9 pelvic rays and I can only count 8.

Leave it, or take it down stream. probably on a spawning run, and went up too small a trib.
