Hello all, new guy from Southern Ohio here and avid collector and lover of native fish. I specifically love to collect and watch Darters. I currently have one 55 gallon planted stream tank and look to expand in the near future.

Welcome, I would be your regional rep. Give me a shout if I can help, or if you want to get in the water. I am near Cincy. A bit north to be specific. Loveland/Lebanon area

Nice to meet you! Your about two hours northwest of me. I'm in southern Scioto county. Most of my collection is from Turkey and Scioto Brush creeks.

I am down that way quite often, Looking around Shawnee for copperheads, and rattlesnakes. Scioto Brush is the better of the two streams. Hit upper, and lower twin if you want to see Rosyside dace, state listed, so leave them in the stream, but something to see. Most small streams around Shawnee have Southern redbelly dace. You also have grass pickerel. Right in that little swampy slough directly across from Camp Oyo, the boyscout camp. Hard to get around in there, but they are there. Probably do better rod and reel. Sunfish creek is close to you as well, and has good diversity, very nice Scarlet shiners. Take some time, and check out our actual website, think about joining NANFA, as our members are what make the forum, the grants, and the excellent photographs possible. Matt

Oh, I know of a great spot for vipers. If your interested just send me a PM. I don't want to blurt it out to the public.

I am very familiar with that slough across from Oyo. I go there often to photograph spotted and dusky salamanders. It's also a decent place to pick pawpaws. One of my professors claimed he had seen pike back in there. I immediately knew what he meant but had never spotted them there myself.

I am very glad you are familiar with my area. I live in the West Portsmouth/McDermott area, two or three minutes from Shawnee. Perhaps we can go collecting if you are ever in the area.

All of this talk makes me want to go collect. I beleive I will.

Cheers,
-Ron

Welcome! I'm currently cycling a tank for rainbow darters myself. Love to see a picture of your setup.
