Wow, I am making a lot of pygmy sunfish posts lately...anyways, I have a (fortunately rather clear) 7 gallon sterilite bin I will be using for pygmy sunfish along with a 5 gallon tank. It is only 6 inches deep, so I am planning it to be open-top with some emergent lucky bamboo, java moss (the only fully submerged plant in the tank), and perhaps anubias. The question is, will pygmy sunfish try to jump out of this tank? I've heard that they are amongst the least jumpy fish in existence, but I just want to make sure whether or not this is a safe set up...

no, they spend most of their time beside and or under vegetation and feel comfortable this way... will not jump out if they have any cover, they will stick to the cover.

OK, thanks. Just wanted to make sure before trying it.

I agree with Michael. None of my Elassoma gilberti ever jumped out.
