So i've had my 30 gallon goin for about 3 years now and the last of the fish are begining to die. I've been keeping fish for around 5-6 years but i've never done native fish before. Been reading up on it lately and i was wondering if sunfish can fit in a 30 gallon? I wouldnt mind only having one or two fish but I definetly want them to be happy and not outgrow the tank. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Here is a link to the gallery so you can browse through pictures and find a species that appeals to you.

Try typing the words 'lepomis' 'enneacanthus' and 'elassoma' into the search bar. Some example sunfish that might fit in a 30 gallon tank include:
  • orange spotted (Lepomis humilis)
  • black banded (Enneacanthus chaetodon)
  • blue spotted (Enneacanthus gloriosis)
  • pygmy (Elassoma okefenokee, gilberti, evergladei, zonatum)

You could probably do bantams, banded, or dollar (probably only one) sunfish too. There are lots of options for sunfish as long as you keep it sunfish only (or with very select tankmates)
