I am going thru my first spawning / fry raising, its pretty fun so far.
video of my comets spawning
(I have sunfish in the same pond too)
Since a really large amount of fry can be produced, I can see how one can acumulate a large number of fish fairly quickly. Besides the obvious of letting the other fish eat the eggs and fry, wondering what you guys do with them when your population grows beyond what you want to take care of.
Thanks

Well the first best answer is probably the obvious one which you already mentioned.
What to do with the leftovers? Freeze them in ice cube trays to feed to your fish between spawns. This works well because you can mix in other foodstuffs to have a really nice gourmet frozen food for your fish. And you don't have to worry about any escaping into the plants to grow up.

These work well for me:
Flordiagar.jpg 30.46KB 2 downloads
Freezing them as suggested above is also a good idea.

In the case of goldfish you can let them grow out and then sell them to other pond owners or give them away.
Course I have a couple gar that love goldfish
