Would these two work well in an aquarium together? What other fish are compatible with these two? Thanks! :)

I dont know red shiners real well, ut other Cyprinella I have kept dont pay any attention to darters... and swamp darters dont care much about shiners... so yes, they should live in happy ignore-ance with each other... just make sure to feed enough stuff that gets down to teh darters... Cyprinellas are pigs.

Sure. Other darters should be mostly ok. In my experience swamps are pretty laid back. What do you have in your area? And "yes" on the shiners too. A smaller shiner like a Notropis (smaller than the reds I mean) will be ok too. Again, what do you have in your area?

An example from my area yellowfin shiners with fiery blacks. And then some darters like say blue breast. They all did fine.

Nice! Well I'm in the Los Angeles area in California. I don't think we have darters (or much native fish)
I just check the ghost shrimp tank at my LFS, sometimes I'll find a swamp darter in there. Or in feeder tanks I'll find baby sunfish or shiners. Other than that, I buy online.
