I know from looking on the forum that a lone enneacanthus is comfortable in a five gallon. Would two be comfortable in a 10 gallon, or would the typical sunfish quarrelsomeness rear its ugly head?

You should be fine, especially if there is structure or vegetation.

Maybe. "typical sunfish quarrelsomeness" is certainly possible with 2 fish in 10 gal. 5 or 6 might be less risky than 2. E. obesus seems to be the rowdiest of the three species, IME.

I have 2 obesus and 1 gloriosus in a overgrown vegetated 55 with several tadpole madtoms, a creek chubsucker and a number of lined topminnows. One obesus keeps everyone cleared out of the small open area.
