We are pleased to announce the addition of a new member of the Moderation Team. Gerald Pottern, a long time NANFA member, has agreed to participate as a moderator with a focus on the Native Fish Resources section and the Identification Assistance sub-forum. Gerald is already very active in these areas and brings a ton of experience in identification.

Thanks in advance to Gerald for his ongoing contributions to the forum and the moderation team.

And all of you out there be nice to Gerald and keep those IDs streamside!

"So, I was on vacation in the Nevada desert and saw a nice swimming hole. It was surrounded by barbwire and the lifeguard must have been on break, because we couldn't see anybody around. So we climbed the fence and jumped in. These annoying little bluish fish kept nibbling our toes, and we thought they might be pirahnas, so we killed them all. What were they?"

This was just a drill, Gerald. Need to get you up to speed. Thanks for becoming a moderator!

I'm glad Gerald is now a moderator. I have him (pygmy sunfish) and Brian Zimmerman (darters) to thank for getting me interested in native fish. It's a privilege living in the state Gerald's the local NANFA representative for. He knows all the best spots to go sampling and he organizes outing trips frequently
