Please review the ID rules. We need a locality. Thanks.

Somewhere in New Joysey.

Good assumption, but many do visit other states. I know some have rarely ventured out of Mississippi, maybe never but....

Thanks, I know this was not in the ID forum, but the same rules apply.

So for your given locality, what Lepomis species are possibly present? Narrow it down a bit.

Mouth size is probably a helpful character. I'm surprised Irate didn't give his standard answer on this one.

I think so too, and obviously so does Isaac. Juvenile sunfish are difficult for me, at least up to a certain size.

I don't have any experience with Pumpkinseeds since we don't have them in Arkansas. Is it possible for a Pumpkinseed (or Bluegill for that matter) to have a mouth this large?

No, the mouth is easy to see characteristic of greens. Irate's analysis stands.

Dorsal fin spines are a bit tall for green sunfish. Base color pattern does not agree with bluegill of any sort.

"Hybrid" before anyone says anything else, it looks like a green sunfish x bluegill to me
