Is anyone else planning on going to the Southeastern Fishes Council meeting on November 14-15?

If so, are there any before/after activities planned?

And what are y'all planning on doing about sleeping, camping, etc?

I keep getting the notifications and am planning on going, any one else?

Details such as where would be valuable.

Sure, sorry about that... it si Guntersville, Alabama... I have not been to this location, but think that maybe they have held it here before. Lots of details on the website page below.

The Guntersville location is great but isolated. You really don't leave the park the whole time you are there. This always falls on my son's birthday. WHen he was a baby I could justify being away but now it's harder. I am just waiting for him to get a little older and I'll start bringing him along. Hope you guys have fun.

I am hoping to attend, but will not know for sure until next week. I was hoping to do a poster presentation out there, but it will depend on if I can get my labs covered (the joys of being a TA). If I do make it, I was planning on camping, or finding the cheapest accommodations possible. I will be traveling from the Savannah area, and would be interested in getting a carpool together if possible.

I'll be going along with some students from my lab, we hope to make presentations about silver shiners in the Flint River of AL and gill parasites in darters. The Lake Guntersville State Park is beautiful but you reach it on a hair-raising road going north from Guntersville. I may only be there during the day on Friday, I'll have to see.

Starts Tomorrow.
I had wanted to setup a table and promote NANFA, sell our goods and pass out grant and membership applications but it costs me too much to attend and setup, plus all the additional expenses.
In 2011 it was held in Chattanooga and we sold about $500. worth of NANFA goods and gained several new members. Being Chattanooga is my home that made it easy and several attendees stayed in my studio apartment above my business.

Gosh Casper, I know it can't happen this year, but if it brings in revenue, and increases exposure, and you enjoy going, maybe you should put together a proposal, and get it to the board. If it was even a break even venture, the exposure might be worth it. I have no idea how the finances would work out on this, so It may just be wishful thinking.

SFC will be in Nashville next year. The group seems to be up and working on a better keel over the last several years so we should try to participate with it more closely. I mean really, where else can one go and talk about darters in exquisite detail and everyone is happy? Yesterday the trailer for the new Freshwater Illustrated movie was shown and Casper was a major feature. Probably everyone on the Forum would enjoy spending a day snorkeling on the Conasauga in TN. The finished version of the movie will hopefully be out within the next year.

Slight correction: Asheville, NC in 2014. Chattanooga in 2015.
