I come here from time to time and finally decided to join.

I currently have a 210 gallon setup of KY-OH Darters, Shiners, Hognose, Madtoms, and few other various stray minnows/suckers.

I used to have a 500 gallon, 265, 220, 210, 180 and 125 with fish from all over, from a 40" Electric Eel, to FRT, to Rays of various types, MBU Puffer, Many South/Central Americans and then lastly Peacock Bass and many more in-between. I have an addiction and it was costing me a lot of money so I decided to sell it all but the 210. I actually started out native in a 29 and then quickly setup the 210 instead of selling it. At one point my 500 was a native tank with a 36" Longnose Gar, approx. 5LB Bass, 3LB smallmouth, few Longears, Warmouth, etc. The Peacock Bass bug bit me so I traded all my fish, etc. for Peacock Bass. Just early this year I sold off everything and I am where I am now and I'm content for the time being because I live in an apartment.

My goal is to have somewhere close to a 1000 gallon native aquarium in the basement, filled with big fish. Never in my life would I have thought I would have a tank full of 2-5" fish instead of the monsters I'm used to, but I like it. It's fun going out to see what I can catch, learn new species of fish, insects and anything else.

I currently use a seine for most of my fish collecting, here and there I use a cast net but I notice a lot of fish get trapped in the mesh and damages them, which at the time I used them for bait for fish food. But here lately, I have only used a seine, I can pick an choose what I want and toss the rest back.

Later on tonight I will post videos and recent fish collecting trip to Ohio, a creek that runs off of Stonelick. We recently found a honey hole full of Darters and this past weekend it was full of Hellgrammites as well, so it was fun trying to sift through all the leaves, rocks, Darters, etc. trying not to get tagged by a Hellgrammite :)

Welcome to the NANFA forum!
As a guest you're able to see all the pictures we embed in the forum. As a member you'd be able to see the trading dock and would receive American Currents, our magazine. http://www.nanfa.org...rg/join.shtml

You have a 210 gallon aquarium in your apartment? wow.

Oh ho ho, little fish have personality, too. I was shocked when I first added darters to my long running swordtail tank and when I went to look at them, they sat down and turned their head and looked right back at me.

I should mention that the AGA aquascaping contest is going on right now. It's free to enter and you can win prizes.
Here's a direct link to the contest: http://www.aquatic-g...ners.org/Enter/

Thanks, she was a big gal (I'm assuming). I tried to get my face as close to her face without getting too close and my buddy was waving his hand by the camera and got her to open her mouth at the perfect time, one of my favorite photos :)

Welcome.

It's good to have another person from KY here. Stay in touch as I plan collecting trips from time to time for the people in the state.

Welcome. I follow your videos on YouTube and your posts on the MFK forum. Have you tried microfishing? It seems like something that would probably interest you. There's a subforum here in the collecting and sampling section of the forum. You should check it out.

Not yet, I've gone down to 2lb test for my fishing records, etc. I tried to find 1lb test, found some but haven't made the move yet. I heard about sewing thread :) You do it?

Just started trying it out this summer. I'm catching fish for my own tanks that way. I use a 10' crappie pole with about 2-3 ft. of 2lb test line with presnelled microfishing (tanago) hooks attached to the end of that.

http://www.tenkarabu...hing-hooks.html This is where I get my hooks from and also I just got these tippet connectors which make tying them on so much simpler too. http://www.tenkarabu...connectors.html
