The official NANFA Facebook page is live.

http://www.facebook.com/NANFA

For those of you that use Facebook, please visit the page and make sure to like and subscribe to it. Also, any help spreading the page will help us get more likes and reach more people. You can share our posts and information on your own stream.

I will be posting some of the information here, in this thread, for those of you who do not use Facebook, but want to stay in the know. I will be adding a few more people in as page managers soon so we can get more people adding content more often.

Because the page managers are only a single person in a single area, it is difficult to get native fish news from around the U.S. If you (nanfa member) come across an article or story from your area that you think would be good to share on the Facebook page, please post that link/photo/story HERE in this thread. It will be reviewed and add to the page stream if acceptable.

I am open to criticism, thoughts, and opinions on this ongoing outlet for NANFA.

Good job Josh... I was out Saturday doing a program and that is what the people asked me... "do you have a facebook page?" I told them that we did... even if I did not know for sure where you were with it... so I am glad that you got it up and running.

There has been a lot of coverage of the reintroduction of alligator gar in Illinois lately. I've been posting links on moxostoma.com and on the moxostoma facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/moxostoma).

These might be appropriate on the NANFA facebook page (I was going to just post them there, but then remembered that this thread said to post them here for review first):
An article in the Chicago Sun-Times last week (about the gator gar I caught while fishing with BenCantrell: http://www.suntimes....since-1966.html
An article in the State Journal-Register (Springfield, IL) about the reintroduction: http://www.sj-r.com/...ack-in-Illinois
A radio/podcast interview I did to talk about gar, suckers and the love of native fish: http://moxostoma.com...-suckers-radio/
Since I'm in 2 of those, this might seem like self-promotion but I swear I'm doing it for the fish!

Over on the NANFA FB page, we're playing #wildlifewednesday Name that fish! It's our weekly contest on the Common/Scientific name of a particular fish. If you're on FB, make sure you like the photos/stories and SHARE them. The more times you share our posts, the more people we potentially reach.

On a side note: I can get a embed code from facebook for a post, but I can't figure out how to link it in here. Anyone good with Java know how?

If you're on Facebook, please share the info for the Convention. You can copy/paste the FB event on your own page.

Not sure what happened today, but I'm happy that the Nanfa FB page had over 70 new 'likes' today.

Josh, I was wondering if someone hadn't started paying to "boost" the page. We're up to 90+ new "likes" last time I checked. Crazy stuff!

I know, it's nuts. I was just telling my wife tonight that we've had over 125 likes in the past two days. I'm not sure what happened. It's awesome.

It must have been the sturgeon porn link. Nothing moves internet traffic like images of organisms attempting to reproduce.
