These are my buddies Shiners, this makes the third time I think they have laid eggs on the filter. Mine have yet to lay any.

We were supposed to go out today and seine some more but I smashed my pinky toe cleaning the kitchen and I couldn't fit my foot in the boots. I barely got my foot in my gym shoes, so I went to the local lake instead. Walking in the creek, slipping on rocks, etc. doesn't sound so fun to me, especially since I have a trip to Michigan on Oct 3 for Grouse, Woodcock and Ducks.

I did manage to catch this 19.20lb Channel Catfish on top water, using 5lb test, with bread. I was hoping for a 30-40lb Grass Carp but he took the bait instead, I'm not complaining. This is my second biggest channel to date.

Video is not so great but you cant make it out.

towards the end, that is all male sparring and defending territory... but earlier on, that was almost certainly some crevice spawners doing their thing.

and that other picture has me thinkin' ceviche!

When my buddy opened the filter up, there were all sorts of eggs inside. :)

Just wondering, were they snail eggs? Snails often use filters as refugiums.

Well I hope you learned your lesson: cleaning kitchens is dangerous work better left to professionals. Next time you feel an urge to clean it, go fishing instead. Oh, and about the shiners ... those round pleated filter cartridges made for canisters work well for tank-spawning any of the crevice-spawning Cyprinellas.
