We don't "pick" them any more, exactly.

Somebody digs deep into his/her soul and says "I'll do it," and we say "Oh thank you lordy lordy lordy."

Thank you Fritz for stepping forward for 2014. And Josh and Matt for 2013. And the predecessors in previous years.

(My impression. May not be precisely accurate.)

Think you pretty much nailed it Doug. Any volunteers for 2015 out there?

Awesome - I haven't made a convention in quite some time. I plan to attend this one! I hope there will be camping.

Do we have any dates yet?

It will be over the first weekend in June (5-8)at the NC Forest Training Center in Crossnore, NC about 30 minutes south of Boone. There are private campgrounds in the area as well as Linville Falls Park about 6 miles away.

I have tried to get him to take one too... Maybe we if we all just gang up on him, in a friendly way of course...

How do you host a convention? Do you pay for a place to hold it and a date, then hope you get voted for? Do you decide activities on your own or do it by comittee"

You volunteer, then work out the details. It is preferable that you have a general plan before raising your hand though. Most of the planning will be done by the host. It is not an easy undertaking, I am glad that Josh and I had each other to work with on the last convention.

Georgia is the state conspicuously missing from the convention lineup. Michael. like me, probably has all of his time mapped out 2-3 years in advance. Doesn't keep me from dreaming :-)
