Aren't they endangered in their native range, introduced pests in a couple other states, and usually found in states with strict fish rules? I heard some places farm them but I never looked into it. But those three reasons sound like enough to make them hard to get.

Leo, I've answered your questions in other forum but it seems that you have completely forget the why the Sacramento Perch is hard to be obtained.

I haven't forgotten that they are hard to get... but they are not impossible... I might of forgotten what you said, but i know that native California fish are hard to get because of collection laws, low amount of breeders, rare in state, but they are legal.

I just wanted help. Its ok if you do not. If they were easy to get, I would not be asking.

Leo- you should maybe focus on shiners and darters. You'd be suprised how cool they are, and much greater of a "collection" than 1or 2 rare trout or obscure sunfish.

Agreed! There are more cool looking small species than the big gamefish or large roughfish.

I'm getting a 150 for "obscure sunfish" and using my 45 for fish like pirate perch, minnows, trout-perch, midsize minnows and darters. Also im not into coloration, i'm going for abilities, how ancient the group is, shape, personality etc.

Make sure you read the laws regarding certain fish before you try to transport, etc.

Sorry for posting on an old thread but I might get a sacramento perch this July. I found a source that expects to get them this July.
