I take a lot of close-up macro photos of my fish and am considering buying some gear to make those photos better. Do you use a macro lens on your point and shoot camera? Which one is it and what is your opinion?

I don use a separate macro lens, but did a lot of comparison shopping before I bought my Nikon Coolix AW100 to assure myself of its macro abilities (I use this camera for underwater work as well as for photo tank portraits.
Focus Range
[W]: Approx. 1 ft. 8 in. (50 cm.) to infinity
[T]: Approx. 3 ft. 4 in. (1 m.) to infinity
Macro close-up mode: Approx. 0.4 in. (1 cm.) to infinity

[T]: Approx. 3 ft. 4 in. (1 m.) to infinity

Just a reminder that what ever camera and lens you get make sure to get a polarizer filter for the lens. This will cancel out any reflections.

Now you are on the right track. If you are going to take images like those that were discussed in the other thread a polarizer shouldn't be a necessity. Learn and practice as much as you can, then move up in your photo system complexity.
