Hey Leo, I would strongly recommend just waiting a bit. When I first got into natives I was convinced I wanted a bass. It was one of my biggest regrets. They are mean and if they can't eat something, they'll beat it to death. They cost a lot to feed, and the maintenance is unbelievable. I recommend you just work on your existing sunfish community, and then look at predatory fish. I know you can't get pickerel, but maybe a gar, or a green sunfish. There are plenty of options that I promise you will enjoy more.

The above is good advice. There is a reason that you are getting limited feedback, and that is because not that many members keep bass. There are just so many fish that are easier to maintain, and much more interesting than the black basses. If your tank is likely to reach 82 degrees, then it will probably not be comfortable for most native fishes. Not necessarily deadly, but not comfortable either. I decided to put a couple of bass in my 240 gallon tank, many years back, and I tired of them very quickly. Also you might look here http://www.monsterfi...can-Native-Fish There are a lot of people who keep bass on this forum, and it may be right up your alley.

I loved my bass, and I intend to get another one and do it right one day, but I agree if I only had one tank it's not the fish I would choose. Sunfish and bullhead catfish are both more fun, as are eels (tricky, those).
