Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone was planning any collecting trips this spring near or around Central Virginia; particularly the James River.

I've never been collecting but was thinking the Pony Pasture section of the river would be a great place for my first attempt. I've fished there many times,a lot of different species and loads of small fish and fry. If you get something together you can count me in. I will bring zero experience but plenty of enthusiasm.

Check with the James River Aquarium Society. They had a collecting trip this past fall, and their monthly meetings (4th Wed) are held at the VDGIF headquarters board room in Richmond. I can send you Dennis Bragg's contact info in a personal message, if you want to get on their email list for trips and meetings. Hopefully a group of them will come down for our western NC conference in June.

Hey Joseph, count me in as well. I'm just getting in to the dipnetting scene. I've been a few times this past summer and late fall, although I've never collected in the James downstream from Columbia. Are you looking for any particular species?

I haven't been planning anything, but I'd be open to heading over that direction if anything materializes. I'm always happy to get in the water, but especially with a group of fellow NANFAns!
