Hello,

Just became a paid member and decided to introduce myself, at least to some degree. If 'you' are really interested in finding out more about me, please contact me via Private Mail and we can 'talk'.

The second reason for making this post, which I will repeat in the "Sunfish" section, is to introduce 'you' to a website I suspect very few of you are aware of: www.biopar.com.

THIS POST IS NEITHER ADVERTIZEMENT NOR SOLICITATION.

The technology we developed to uniquely identify individual animals - including fish - over their entire lifetime should be of use and interest to NANFA and its members. What some will find more interesting I think, is the potential to determine the gender of juvenile fish. (We can identify the gender of coho salmon in out-migrating smolt, and uniquely identify them for the rest of their lives, for example.)

We would be happy to offer our services to the members of NANFA free of charge. (Businesses that are NANFA members would receive a discount.)

Please don't hesitate to ask questions.

I did not join NANFA to solicit business. I have been raising NA freshwater fish in aquaria for more than 40 years. Centrarchids, and especially Lepomis sp., are my favorites, and I did quite a bit of research on their feeding behavior while at the University of Kansas. I will post some photos of redbreasts, longears, greens, bluegills, and Cambarus sp., when I get my personal slides converted to digital. (I just dug out the 40-year-old slide trays when I became a member.)

Thanks for the welcome, Gavinswildlife.

Give yourself a few days to consider the applications of "The Natural Tag", and I'm sure something will come to mind. O:)

What is the fish in your profile photo? It's huge.

Kenai River Chinook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha). It was about 47 lb. Nice fish, but nobody considers them "big" until they reach 50 lb. World record - 97 lb - was caught in Kenai river.

How is it?

Offering a service without charge.

I suppose it depends on what your definition of "advertisement" is, but I do not now how else to offer a service FREE OF CHARGE to a group of people without telling them about it.
