The FBI could tie you to a crime with those fingerprints.
How did you get Mr. Darter to flare his fins so perfectly?
His mouth is sayin... Oh!
What date was the photo taken... are we seeing a hint of Spring here?

Thanks Casper. This was taken two weeks ago. The daffodils and pears are blooming in southern OK, but i looks like a week of cold on the way.
As for the fins.... I took about 50 pictures with the fins not flared out. Eventually I got lucky.

Is this inside a photo tank? Well, is the fish inside a photo tank?
I like that a lot better than the in-hand shots. Did he survive okay?

Sure, the fish is still alive. This picture was taken inside a one gallon aquarium full of water and was actually taken on the second day I photographed the fish. In my experience the hand is easier on the fish than a paddle and a lot easier. Usually you can just kinda cup it and the fish will often flare it's fins the first couple seconds.
