Spotfin Shiner Acting a Little Grumpy

Got some video of my spotfin shiner. He's starting to color up a bit. Starting to notice the white tips on the fins and he's starting to slowly get a bluish tint to his color.

You already probably know this, but for those that do not... these guys are crevice spawners... and that collection of rocks and piece of slate (along with the raging hormones that have his fins all white tipped) have him thinking that he needs to stake his claim to that particular space...

Fun! Your spotfins are behaving much like my greenfins, no surprise there. I love it when they get to full-on sparring. I see something else in your spots that I see in my greens that I find interesting; the selectivity of their abuse. Other cyprinids get the worst of it, then Notropis sp., and darters hardly get a look.

They act as if the darters aren't even there.

That's what I thought. They are rather more of a fire orange than a true ref but very bright even as juvenes.
