NANFA BOD-
I am writing in regards to the 2014 Corcoran Education Grant. This year we had 9 proposal submissions and quality of proposals remains high.
The review panel ranked the following proposal highest and it comes to the BOD with our recommendation for the 2014 Gerald C. Corcoran Education Grant award. If anyone would like to see a copy of the proposal please contact me.
Brukner Nature Center's Snorkeling the Stillwater River Project [NANFA request $912]
As the name suggests, the project focus is on developing and administering an educational snorkeling program. The Center plans to purchase 12 sets of snorkels/masks (majority of budget), 2 10-gallon fish tanks, 20 aquarium dip nets, and 6 D-nets. They are developing lesson plans, piloting 2 snorkeling programs in 2014, and plan to incorporate the snorkeling program in their standard educational programing. In addition, they state they will document the project with photographs and video of the snorkeling and the fish observed.
Ms. Debra Oexmann of the Brukner Nature Center is a current NANFA member is good standing, per grant eligibility requirements.
The review panel was comprised of Jan Hoover, Chris Scharpf, Jim Wood, and myself. Thank you Jan, Chris, and Jim for your time and thoughtful consideration of the proposals.
At this time, I ask that the BOD vote on the review panels recommendation.
Thank you.

How do BoD members who don't use the Forum or not very often, know there is a vote?
BOD members were told to check here often as parts of their responsibilities. I think we need to set this as the new expectation. But I have also been reminding people (especially if we have a vote).

Thank you Josh. With 5 yes and 2 pending votes this motion will pass
So Scott I would say you are good to go. I don't like jumping into stuff with just the bare majority but we have five out of seven now (with Brian and Bob still pending votes), so I think you are more than safe to proceed.
