Hey All,

Just registered with the forum after lurking a bit. Got myself a 33-long I hope to set up soon for some darters and dace. (Hope to collect locally, but I need to research that more.) Haven't kept fish for several years, but I'm looking forward to getting back into it.

Welcome Jacques, you have found the right place if you are ready to jump into natives. There are lots of folks here that can help you. And I am really glad that you are interested in the smaller fishes. I really think that we have the opportunity to create some of the best community tanks anywhere with our small stream fishes.

Thanks, guys. I've kept mixed tropical tanks and a few species tanks, and am excited to get into natives. I'm just starting to get my gear together, hoping to be set up in time for some spring collecting.

Hello! I'm a fellow Minnesotan, as well as a fellow 33 gallon owner, and I have to say, you made a great choice going with that size. As for collecting, there is Darter Hunt every weekend in May with the Minnesota Aquarium Society put on by our state NANFA representative Jenny Kruckenberg. I haven't been to one yet, bt I hope to go this year. The locations land between Rochester and the Twin Cities for the most part. If you're interested in coming, pm me and I'll make sure you're added to the email list. Otherwise, if you find yourself further south and a bit closer to the WI border, let me know and I'll show you where to find some fish.
