Not trying to steal Dustin's thunder here, but our very own Ken is in town from Iowa this weekend and him and I were planning on spending Saturday out in the Clinch and/or Holston rivers in southwest Virginia. As far as I can tell, the weather should be alright for the remainder of the week, so while there is a slight chance of a passing shower on Saturday, the water should be low and clear. It would be a fantastic time to snorkel, and I may be doing a bit myself if Ken has someone to help with the seine. Anyone is more than welcome to join us if you are available.

Ahh, Springtime, when a young man's fancy turns to fishes! Trips in the works to WV, VA, SC, NH and others on the boards the last two weeks! Plus convention-fever starting to set in.
Best of luck in your fin chasing, and Godspeed to Ken.

I will be picking up Ken in Glade Spring VA at a time yet to be determined, but I live in Blacksburg and regardless of when he is ready, plan on leaving probably around 8:30 and if necessary, playing in the Holston somewhere until he is ready. The itinerary is all pretty rough at this point, but this is being arranged around Ken, and he is (as any of us who have tried to fit collecting into a family vacation/visit) at the mercy of his relatives. As of now it sounds like I may have a few more Blacksburgians interested in coming along, but I have to reach out to them to see if carpooling can happen.
Licenses will be required if you are taking anything home, as this will not be an agency-sponsored event. The good news is that a 5 day licence is $14, which compared to many states is pretty cheap. And hey, you can come back the next day if you desire! If you're coming to snorkel or just see some cool fish, you won't need a licence, since you'll technically be helping me collect data.
We are not going to any out-of-the-way spots, so parking shouldn't be any kind of issue, but carpooling is always a good thing, as well as inter-fishhead interactions that take place.
I'm planning on sampling the Clinch River near Cleveland and/or the North Fork Holston at Saltville (actually our site from the 2011 convention) if that helps anyone map out what a journey might look like for them.

And Josh, is that why he is unsure of what time we're getting together? We may have to poke around Glade Spring MUCH longer if that is the case.
Bruce, whatever happened to him? I remember seeing him in photos of many NANFA functions from back in the day, but I believe he dropped off the radar shortly before I got involved with NANFA. I don't believe I've ever met him. My boss may know him though, especially if he lives on Copper Creek.

Ranger Bob inherited property from his grandmother on Copper Creek. He works for one of the local towns as a park employee, i.e. Ranger... I forget exactly where but there's some chance you'd be close to his cabin on that property. I haven't seen him for a period of years. He wears the right hat, you'd know it immediately...
