Interesting-looking habitat. Much different than the springs I usually have seen, the greater magnitude Florida type, but not so different in size as some of the sinkhole entrances to cave diving sites I've seen. It looks as if it runs on the shallow side, based on emergent vegetation, but the hills in the background hint otherwise. What are some more features of this spring, and what are you expecting/hoping to find?

Depth is about 6 feet and 30 feet in diameter. Flow boils up through quicksand. Flow volume ranges 4,000 to 7,000 gpm but usually about 5,000. Sculpin for sure. Otherwise not know. Dissolved oxygen very low and nitrates often higher than hatchery will be allowed to release into receiving stream when new EPA rules come into effect.

I couldn't tell from the photo that it was that deep. I guess most of that vegetation is floating. I snorkeling a spring here in N AR last week with a similar plant to the one that looks like java moss.
