bluegill and plants

So i wanna ad some plants to my tank, java moss maby some vall? Just curious if bluegill will tear it up or leave it alone? Thanks

I think that they will leave it alone at first... but if one of them gets in the mood to build a nest, they will destroy whatever is in their way. How many bluegill do you have and how big is the tank?

I have one green sunfish, and 4 bluegill in a 75g
One of them made a "nest" yesterday but I can't figure out witch one. None of them are sitting over it they all just swim around it. Do they do that normally?

I dont have a ton of experience with sunfish, so I was hoping someone else would chime in... but I think you might have a problem starting... if one of those sunfish decides to nest they will take over at least half the tank and aggressively defend it. Not positive, but the biggest of the sunfish might be your digger.

The nesting will probably create some aggression which means plants are doomed. Sunfish will destroy java fern. Anubias would probably survive. I would attach it to driftwood and rocks and not bury it in the substrate though. If I were you I would just stick to Anubias and a floating plant like frogbit or dwarf water lettuce.

Put each plant in a clay or plastic pot (buried in the sand) and lay 3 or 4 flat rocks around the top, leaving a small gap for the plant to grow through.
