Ok. I fly fished a good bit in the 80's, when I lived near the Appalachian mountains and Georgia's trout streams. I've continued to do a little fly fishing for pan fish and salt water species, but these are rare. While i was trout fishing regularly I tied some basic flies and was okay with what I thought were small hooks.

Yesterday I got my first order from TenkaraBum (CMStewart here on the forum).

All I can say is the photos Chris has on his site are excellent - he has a great macro lens  . These things are beyond tiny. Now I understand how people have caught elassoma okefenokee and <insert tiny fish species here>.

Now the actual reason for my post is not to kvetch about my bad eyes or tiny hooks. I was really impressed with the quick service, quality of product, and price of what I ordered. I'd encourage any of y'all who live in a place where "little hook" means #8 to the Bait and Tackle store sales people pick up some of these -- they will make 'sho nuff micro fishing possible.

Thanks, TenkaraBum!.

Yeah, Chris is awesome! I'd also like to add that he is always looking for new products to offer, so if smaller hooks or new artificial baits show up somewhere, he'll check them out and add them to his lineup if he thinks people will want them.

Thanks guys.

Moontanman, microfishing is the kind of thing that looks like it might be kind of interesting to try, once, on a day when nothing else is biting. However, then you find you want to try it again. Before too long, you plan a specific trip just to catch micros. Then you plan a specific trip just to catch a specific micro.

Turn back now, while you still can.

On second thought, just give in and enjoy it.

Funny. Just look at Ben. 100% micro junkie! No turning back now for him. Unfortunately there is no rehab currently tailored specifically for microfish detox.

Is there a fishing in general detox? The cool thing about microfishing is it opens up so many more places, challenges, etc., and allows for super-quick trips. Simply not having to have a boat (even kayak) helps.

Ben's not a micro junkie, he's a species junkie. It's just that most species are micro :D/

Fishing is the detox for life. A little fish slime applied to the palm lowers your blood pressure. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
