I am wondering if there's anywhere on the forum to post non-fish, aquatic invertebrate or plant stuff? I recently took some pictures of a huge moth that I would like to start a post on.

Unfortunately no there is not. The forum staff has deliberated over this for years- literally. We have never come up with a good way to moderate something like this. It would be difficult to moderate, and keep things on topic(kind of a slippery slope). Also as much as the staff likes the idea, it really is a bit outside of the NANFA mission.

We (the moderation team) have had this conversation recently, and to be honest there were differing opinions about how far should we stray from "just native fish"? Right now we have decided that we are not going to support/allow non fish related posts. However, we do have some latitude about what "related" means. For example, habitat pictures or even pictures of bipedal seine handlers included as part of a trip report would and should be included. Random pictures of other natural items, while interesting to many of us, just does not fit in with the mission and objectives of NANFA.

quick edit - looks like Matt and I were typing at the same time... but seems we are at least we're consistent!

BUGGUIDE.NET is the best place to post your moth pix (and for ID-ing unknowns).

I think what we came up with in our last discussion was for instance, If you post a trip report, and are showing fish photos, habitat, etc. Feel free to slip a photo of a moth or butterfly in with the group if it was streamside and from the same trip. Kind of makes it part of the habitat. Please refrain from starting topics that are totally unrelated to fish though that focus primarily on something other than fish.

At least that was how I interpreted our discussion.

I said it with fewer words :-) Because after all, I do not wish to become...the nameless one.

I went outside to dump a bucket of dirty aquarium water and found this cool moth on my screen door ...
(does that pass the fish-related significant-nexus test)?
