Just got back from my first time snorkeling in a creek and I have to say I loved it! I was snorkeling in Pine Creek but it was in a very large pool fed by a pipe going under a bridge from the creek itself. The pool was 15-20' in diameter and the deepest part was about 3' deep in the middle. Visibility was about 5-6' which is good for a small pool like that, it didn't help having a silt substrate though. Water temp was 58F which was a bit chilly since I didn't have a wet suit so I lasted about 20 minutes. No pictures but I got a few good videos that I compiled before my camera quit on me.

The species I saw were:
*Creek Chubs
*Silverjaw Minnows
*Redside Dace
*Blacknose Dace
*Johhny Darters
*Mottled Sculpins
*White Suckers

Nice video. Glad you had a good time. I can't believe you snorkeled 58F without a wetsuit. That's tough. If you can enjoy that, then you should definitely seek out places in your area to snorkel with colorful darters and minnows next spring.

I could snorkel for hours it's one of my favorite things to do but not in 50°water....BRRRRRRR. I love it when I show a video of darters swimming on a colorful rocky bottom with minnows in the background and someone says what ocean is that!!? They are always amazed when I tell them it's the local stream.
