Snorkeling and collecting spots close to MS

I live in Ridgeland,MS, just outside of Jackson,MS, and was wondering if yu guys could give me some locations rivers, creeks, lakes, etc, close to MS, like in Tennessee, mayby close to Tupelo or Tishamingo State Park. Thanks....

I don't know of any snorkeling spots close to you. Everything I know of is 5+ hours away. Of course, there's the springs (and gulf) in the Florida panhandle, which it seems you are already familiar with. The Chattanooga, TN area has a lot of good stream snorkeling and several NANFA members who you could go with. There are also some clear streams in SE TN in the Hohenwald and Waynesboro areas. SW AR has the Cossatot and Little Missouri Rivers which are nice and clear. In fact, NANFA members will be snorkeling them at next year's convention.

It should be easier to find collecting spots near you since you don't need clear water for that. I think Martin (Irate Mormon on the forum) lives in your same general area. I'm sure he knows of many nearby collecting spots.
