love scallops, think they are amazing, beautiful and delicious, and their habitat is beautiful also. has anyone ever seen them in an aquarium? i would like others who don't snorkel get a chance to see these guys. i imagine it would be a pretty difficult task, but you could probably put seahorses in with them. wouldn't that make a grand aquarium?

Not sure if they were North American natives but I have seen a few in the saltwater hobby. They are difficult reef animals to maintain.

I managed a few bay scallops for a while, but as Michael said, they were incredibly difficult. I had to hand feed them, and they liked to swim around the tank all night long banging into to things and terrifying every fish in my native marine 90. They were definitely above my fish keeping skill level, but maybe you will have better luck. If you plan on trying, remember that most states have pretty strict rules on harvesting them. Also there are a few different species that can be difficult to distinguish if you aren't careful. Good luck!

Maybe not more than some difficult corals, but they would certainly need heavy targeted feeding.
