Sunday, April 12.  Air temp. 79, water temp, 55, it's time to get the season started.  The water was a little high and there was a little color to the water due to recent rain.  The Greensides and Redlines are everywhere as well as Striped Shiners, and Warpaints, the River Chubs are getting tubercled up.  If you have the time you should check out Tennessee.

You're just teasing us with these tiny photos.  :)

EDIT: I found them in your NANFA gallery where I can see them larger. Excellent shots! I really like that stigmaeum type darter. I've never seen any of that group in color. Which one is that? E. jessiae? Looks like you had a good time. Makes me want to get in the water.

Michael! Come in Michael. Whiskey tango we need your help again. It really is not fair that you always see Bryce's photos first.

I'm sorry, I still can't link from gallery.  I'll figure it out sooner or later.  Thanks, yes that is jessiae and there are lots of them in the Little River.

At first i thought they were just little bity fish from the Little River.

:)

Thanks Michael for the correction from the wee to the proper.

You are a hardy pound of flesh to get in that cold water Sir Bryce.  This time of year i prefer to walk the banks looking for Dry Land Fish.

From the top, you witty one...

One Fish: Sciclefin Darter ( spelling? )  ( A good find indeed! )

Two Fish: A male and female Blueside / Speckled Darter.  Name changers, what is it now?

Redfish:  A handsome Redline and his mate.

Bluefish:  A head on view of the male Blueside / Speckled Darter.

Lots of Greenfish:  A Greenside Colony of youngsters.

and Mottled Fish:  Our friend the Sculpin.

So how long did you hold out?  Do not you have a dry suit?  How was it?  Wallen Dam?

Casper, You are correct.  There are a lot of Sicklefins this year, mostly along the wall where the water spills out of the culvert.  2.5 hours at Perry Mill dam at Walland I was hoping to get to the Star Bridge, but my battery died and it was getting late.  No I sold the drysuit but it was more comfortable than I thought it would be.  I was really looking for Blotched Chubs, but it turned out to be a darter fest so it wasn't a total bust.  Of course there were Tangerines and Blotchside Logperch hanging around also.  The River Chubs will start building soon and the Striped Shiners are huge; I was set up for macro so I couldn't get a good image of the big boys.
