Once again we had a group of Georgia NANFAns participate in a fishy day with Dr. Zach Felix and his undergraduate students. They were learning about all the species on campus, and we were there to help with seines and identifications. By now this has become rather a tradition for us, so i will not bore everyone here with another explanation. But with a little pre-sampling, I was able to take the time to get a few photos. Of course we were also privileged to see lots of Cherokee Darters (some in near full color), but they all had there federal identification on them and demanded to be returned to the stream unmolested, and unphotographed, so we complied (man they are a pretty little darter).
Mobile Logperch (one of the nicest I have ever seen as far as coloration)
You cant tell from the picture, but this was a very large Rainbow shiner that came up in a seine of about seven individuals.
Coosa Shiner (a handsome little fish with a pointy dorsal fin)
Sculpin
Southern Studfish
Tricolor Shiner
Alabama Shiner
Blackbanded Darter (I mean were were still in Georgia after all)
Coosa Bass (I tried for a long time to get him to open his caudal fin open, but no)
