So it's been a while since I've kept native fishes or really been on this forum much. I used to be a fairly active member but life happened and I have been in the army for the past 4 years, preventing me from really keeping any fish so I just dropped everything entirely. However, now that I have room/time to get back into my hobbies, I've picked them back up. So I just wanted to re-introduce myself to the folks who have joined since I've been gone and say hello to the ones that I already know! I'm glad to be back in it and look forward to getting into my Centrarchids again.

Welcome back! Don't believe I was around when you were active, do you keep all Centrarchids or just Lepomis?

I've kept members from every genus; however my favorites are warmouth, bantams, and the Enneacanthus sp. in that order

Welcome back fishlvr! I think I remember you... weren't you in Georgia before, but not Savannah?

Anyway, welcome back to NANFA, and Savannah should be a great location for natives.

I'm looking to add a Warmouth to the tank with my Coosa bass.  Any warmouth tips?

Michael - yes, I was farther north and the army brought me back close to home. I've been out checking out the natives since I've been down and there's a ton of variety.

Josh - Start with a young one and get it on pellets. Cichlid pellets really bring out their colors. Occasional live food is a nice supplement as well. They're not very demanding at all and have great personalities. Easy to raise, easy to keep, easy to breed. Just make sure you have enough space and cover for them to feel secure. Also, they're one of the less agressive Lepomis sp but keep an eye on them just in case. Every individual fish is different. Not sure if Brian Zimmerman has any available, but I got one from him and she was beautiful and very healthy on arrival and switched to pellets pretty easy since she was so young.

Warmouth are definitely up there in my list of favorite sunfish, right up at the top with Longears. Both of which have annoying/confusing regulations on harvest/possession in PA. Going to try to find a way to legally get a Warmouth this year though if it's possible.

Contacting the DNR would be your best bet on figuring that out. How they interpret the regs is everything.

Welcome back fishlvr!  Looking forward to your future input on this forum along with progress on your tank(s) and collecting, etc.

Warmouth are very cool fish indeed.  I've never kept one in captivity, but have caught them via hook and line.  It's amazing what size bass lures they will hit for their size.

They chow down for sure. I've only kept them with other sunfish at least an inch larger than them for that exact reason.
