I have made 2 trips to Lake Horicon, Lakehurst this year so far and will update this when i make the 3rd trip, It is great site for collecting, hiking and even just relaxing, anyway without further ado, here is a list of the species i found (and which ones i kept)

FISH

Blackbanded Sunfish (released, were found in bunches of hornwort like weeds)

Bluespotted sunfish (released)

Banded sunfish (released, found pretty much everywhere in the lake)

Mud sunfish (released, found very close to shore)

Pirate perch (kept, found one small individual in deep weed beds)

Baby Chain Pike (kept, found just under surface)

Tesselated Darter (kept, found in gravel beds and sandy areas, hardier then river populations)

Tadpole madtom (kept)

REPTILES & AMPHIBIANS

Mud turtle (released)

Snapping turtle (released)

Bullfrog tadpole (kept, found very close to shore in weed beds)

OTHER

Dragonfly Larvae (released)

Hellgramite (released)

Geese (only mentioning because they are a nuisance when using a minnow seine)

The baby pike is in a 5 gallon tank as a growout, he is eating small fish and is only 3 inches, he shares his tank with the pirate perch

The tadpoles, tessellated darters and tadpole mad tom are in my 30 gallon pond

Love Lake Horicon have visited there many times.  Pickerel do have a size limit 12 inches I think but you'd have to check.

Cool. Lots of folks would've loved to see that mud sunny.

I made the third trip, and while didn't find any fish i haven't seen in the lake before, i did notice something about lake horicon itself (well the part i use my seine in anyway), its very shallow, and with waders i can go a good 20-30 feet with no issues, over there was able to spot several juvenile (5-7 inch) pike waiting for prey, its not easy, but with care and a decent sized net, its possible to slowly put a large dip net over them before they make any moves
