Eileen and I decided to go to a local blue spring that is a favorite for us next to the Withlacoochee. expected to play in the clear water, enjoy a picnic, dipnet , seine, and a little micro fishing. well we went up the river 3 miles, noticing flooding all the while, when we got to the spring it too was flooded with brown river water. so much for swimming,(don't like swimming blind with gators) and seining. however did come home with a dozen or so bluefin killies, 3 pygmy sunfish, a couple of catfish, and a baby slider turtle, and a happy day on the river. rainy season should be over soon i hope.

Sorry 'bout the flooding, but glad for the rain. I lived in central FL for ~20 years. The first half, the summer rains were just as advertised- clockwork arival in late afternoon, a fairly quick deluge and then gone. The second half was prime time drought, I still remember going to work with ash falling around me and the heavy smell of smoke from fires burning up the parched Ocala National Forest. Hopefully Ma Nature evens things out soon enough.

Understand not likin' to swim and wade muddy water; I'm not a fan of water I can't fathom, gators or not. Too bad so many cool fish think that kind of stuff makes a nice place to live!

they say Florida has a drought/ flood cycle that lasts several years, hopefully we will have water for a few more years, however it is hard to convince people to conserve water, contol growth when water is everywhere
