camping at venice fl. at camping resort , on Myakka river, primary goal beach time, and looking for shark teeth. apparently at this point Myakka river is brackish.A small pond near our site had alligators, mullet, and blue crabs. dipped some ditches came home with a lined topminnow, and a few  invasive African Jewelfish, the invasives go in my bad boy tank with a crayfish, and a turtle a  brown bullhead, and a so far unidentified exotic catfish. Maybe my cichlid loving friend will adopt them , they are quite beautiful

Pterygoplichthys?  Hoplosternum?  What other exotic catfish are there in Florida?

i don't know, waiting for him to grow into something i recognize he has vertical stripes, slightly notched tail, very straight rigid dorsal , and is very active from surface to bottom during day, know any catfish which have vertical stripes as juveniles? caught in a flooded spring , near Withlacoochee river here in Citrus cty .

Can you post a photo?

Of course you'll have to put him in a photo tank and take pics outside, so it looks like a field-photo, to avoid breaking forum rules ....  |;>)

Yep no exceptions!  No really, post the photo, but if it ends up being something native you will never live it down.

Here's a baby Brown Hoplo with vertical stripes:  http://www.planetcat...?image_id=10355

Hoplo's are certainly among the most active catfish.
