Hi All:

Thanks for all the useful information on this site!    I was wondering if someone could help me ID this minnow from a large river system in west Michigan.  They are numerous in the late spring and early summer.    It is a juvenile of some species.

Thanks!

It appears to be a juvenile white sucker from what I can tell.

That was my first impression as well.

I'm gonna throw another possibility out there.  I agree that it looks like Catostomus sp., for sure.  But is there a possibility of it being a longnose sucker?  I know white suckers have crowded anterior scales, but those scales look extra tiny to my eyes.  Also, that faint stripe from the snout, through the eye, and onto the opercle looks reminiscent of a longnose.

Was my thought too.

UncleWillie, that's very possible too. Can you give us the river system KevinF, that may help?
