Here's the first in a series of short GoPro clips that I'm calling "Fish Bytes." As always you can find this and the rest of my videos on my FishGuyJosh You Tube page.

"While passing the time night fishing and recollecting our earlier manatee adventure along Crystal River, Florida, we were greeted by a big, lonely gar hunting needlefish along the shallows. It was a great chance to test out my new LED light mount on my GoPro and get some great footage. Enjoy..."

Cool stuff, Josh. Glad he didn't mistake your gopro for a high-end snack!

Josh - thank you for sharing!  Were you using the Knog Qudos LED video light?  Can you share additional details on your approach to using the GoPro and light combo?

love that pectoral propulsion... sneak up on the camera... paddle backwards...

Cool footage, and a very chill gar! He doesn't seem to care too much about the light.

Here's the link to the light I was using...

I only just recently purchased the light, and I had not yet had a chance to use it until the gar encounter. I was using a telescoping camera pole. The light mounted to the pole, and the camera mounted on top of that. You cane see the light beam in the video as it cascades a spotlight just under the subject. I think being able to angle the camera will help me adjust that spotlight in the future.

That's awesome. The light is a great idea, I'm going to have to look into that.
