Hello All-
Please share this information with those that may be interested. The job will be advertised on USA jobs (https://www.usajobs.gov/) beginning on Monday, February 29. We're looking to fill a full-time TERM GS-11 fisheries biologist position- duties are described below.
Thanks for sharing!
Duties:
The position will be required to plan and lead the implementation of projects related to the Grand Canyon National Park fisheries program. This program is currently slated to implement a variety of non-native aquatic species control activities in support of native fish restoration projects, implementation of conservation measures related to dam operations, and other substantial scientifically-informed management actions. The incumbent will be required to develop and/or adapt field protocols to monitor fish populations, supervise technician(s), safely lead field crews made up of volunteers and paid staff in data collection, plan the logistics of field sampling efforts in Grand Canyon, and conduct data entry, analysis, and write reports and publications for peer-review. Accurately interpreting projects to interagency and non-governmental stakeholders, and tribes, as well park visitors is an important aspect of the position. Work sites are located in remote backcountry areas in rugged desert terrain, and are accessed via long-distance backcountry hiking, river raft, or helicopter. In addition to the development of strong relationships with other work groups within the park, project implementation also requires working closely with members of a large and diverse stakeholder group consisting primary of other Department of Interior agencies (U.S. Fish andWildlife Service, Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Indian Affairs), tribal neighbors, and the Arizona Game and Fish Department. The incumbent will be expected to build and maintain relationships with these entities.
