We had the opportunity to do a couple of education/outreach events in the past two weekends at Ivy Creek (a trib of Suwanee Creek a trib of the Chattahoochee River) up on the north side of Atlanta. We set up the NANFA Georgia streamside tank (thanks again K-man) and saw a number of interesting fishes.

 

Percina (I assumed) nigrofasciata... but look at all the orange in the dorsal... could be P. crypta?  This male was in full color and had what I have come to know is a typical blue-green caste when first pulled from the water, and all the solid smoky fins.

We also saw a tadpole madtom for the first time at this site.

A total of fifteen species (including southern brook lamprey, three species of shiner and three of sunfish) in a Chattahoochee trib is pretty good.

 

We also saw crayfish and dragonfly larva and two different snake species.

 

A very good day of outreach with over 25 people that got to see fish and seine fish and learn about fish!

Nice! That Bluehead is a stud! Don't know what to tell you about that darter. Great work, again, promoting our fishes and NANFA. Just one question- where are all the lamprey when I come to GA?
