I was fortunate enough to accompany some folks on the great PeeDee in NC to shock for Robust Redhorse in an effort to spawn them at a hatchery to release later on when they've grown. If you don't know the story of the Robust Redhorse, look it up! It's an extremely interesting story! Figured I'd share a picture or two...male first, female second. Females were fat full of eggs but not quite ready to release eggs just yet. We'll be back at it next week!

It's so cool to see such an impressive specimen of a threatened species in person.

Thanks for the photos, those really are ROBUST redhorse, certainly compared to the black and golden redhorse I typically encounter.

Really cool, Stephen! I agree with Bruce, these puppies resemble their name! Hopefully these efforts will succeed in boosting their numbers.
