Hello NANFA members,

I wanted to let you know about a collecting weekend that I'm hosting.  July 15th - 17th a group lead by Rolf Wilhelm from Charlotte will be coming to Somerset KY to spend a couple days out in Kentucky streams.

All locations and exact times will be narrowed down as we get closer, but here's the rough itinerary.  This is basically the 2014 convention again, but hopefully without the rain.

Friday July 15: Middle Cumberland Drainage

Arrive in Somerset KY, check into Hotel and have lunch.

Travel to Buck Creek

Travel to Fishing Creek, may visit multiple spots on Fishing Creek

Species:  http://goo.gl/4GQylb

Other Interests:  Somerset is home to Lake Cumberland and a short drive to Cumberland Falls

Saturday July 16: Green River Drainage

Travel to Russell Creek

Travel to Green River, Greensburg KY

There will be lunch opportunities in Greensburg KY.

Sunday July 17: Red River Gorge

This would be a good day to pack a lunch.  There are a couple places to eat, but not near the locations we’ll be at.

So, if you are interested, let me know and make plans to come.

Dudes and Dudettes, if you don't know, Rolf is one fun and funny German dude. Quite a hand with the ladies, too. He alone is worth the trip if you can make it. Kentucky's cool, and Josh ain't no bad shakes either from what I understand. ;) Would love to be able to get there myself!

Miguels has legendary Pizza, may be a good option.

That same Saturday, the 16th, i will be guiding another Conasauga snorkel for the Cherokee National Forest.  The group will be members of Georgia Watch, an ideal group of interested citizens.  24 attendees are expected.  Both Lance Merry and Sarah along with Rob McDougal, now a NY professor and who assisted me in 1998 with the Chattanooga convention will also attend so, weather permitting it will be an excellent day.  I will have to cut short the afternoon immersal though and return home by 6:00 though.  If any forum members want to attend let me know.

Regarding KY... if you have a chance to sit with Rolf for an hour or 2 and willing to listen and ask questions he has a fascinating story to tell of his young life walking out of communist East Germany with nothing but the clothes on his back.  But don't ask him about Chickens or Orchids!   :)

Don't worry with the Governor,  just be sure and take them to the Colonel.

I wish I could come, it looks like you guys will have a great time. If anyone has some cooler space to spare, I would be very interested in a few species from there and have a good variety to trade. PM me!

Sounds good Jared.

The water levels are looking great.  There's that 50% chance of scattered T-storms on Friday/Sat, but I'm thinking we should be ok.

You guys are really lucky. Right now it looks like you will be graced with my presence. No need to alert the governor, I already talked to Matt, and he was disappointed that Casper could not make it. However he may make an appearance as he is very interested in hearing Rolf's story. He won't be getting in the water, just going to try to meet us for lunch or dinner.

 Right on Jared.

Really wish I could be there.

But being a vicarious observer thanks to the postings and photos you hopefully will be posting is (a distant) second best.

I was looking at the weather forecast this morning.  Scattered thunderstorms possible for the rest of the week through Saturday morning.  Hopefully most of those pass through without elevating the water levels too much.

Fingers crossed
