Thought some folks might be interested in this recent publication by Doug Carlson (NYSDEC). It is available as a free download via the NYS Museum. Our NY Chapter of the American Fisheries Society is printing them and selling them for cost of printing. I have attached the announcement link, which has both info on the free link and the ways to order a print copy.

The atlas has accounts for 179 fish species with detailed maps, fish pictures and annotations, in the 370 pages. The 460,000 fish records are available through a link to the entire data set.

Got my hard copy Friday. LOVE it!!! Not a field guide, so if you are looking for help identifying fishes this isn't what you want. But if you have decent id'ing skills, and/or an interest in the population trends of fishes this is fantastic! It really is an atlas of fishes. As someone whose first 20 years of so of life revolved around the Southern Tier and Central New York, I find this book just fascinating...

I got mine this weekend also! Matt's got it right that there are really no fish descriptions, more a discussion of the distribution and frequencies or population density of the species in different drainages.
Nice representation for NANFA in the photo credits, where Lance Merry, Dave Neely, Dave Ostendorf, Fritz Rohde, Konrad Schmidt and Nate Tessler are all credits and noted as being from NANFA (I think likely they got photos from the Gallery Archive). Nice to see that resource used for an official publication.
