Found a nice alligator gar skull on Ebay, and I'd love to add it to my collection, but I'm pretty sure they're protected now. Question is, what does "protected" mean? Am I allowed to have a skull from one, or would that not be legal? According to the seller, the skull was found in a forest, and they're in Florida. 

Quick reply appreciated, this is Ebay and it's a pretty cool skull. Wanna grab it if I can, it's supposedly 17" and is in good shape according to the photos.

Protected in Texas? I don't know the rules regarding buying them, but there appears to be a 1 fish a day bag limit in Texas.
