Found this little beauty in what is usually a rainwater pond which contains no fish. However this year there is evidence that the local river went well over its bank and flooded the pool leaving these and a few other fish stranded. Any thoughts as to what it is? That fish certainly has a nice blue shine.  Fish look like the silvery minnow (Hybognathus).  I guess in your case, the Mississippi silvery minnow (H. nuchalis).

I've never seen H. nuchalis but agree it looks pretty similar to the eastern Hybognathus regius in my area. Their scales rub off more easily than most shiners' scales do.
