I acclimated some silversides to freshwater. The silversides are very small. What should I feed them. I am about to pick up some brine shrimp but that might be too large. I am looking for something I can pick up at the pet shop and not have to order online. Does petco sell small flies?

Inland. I added brine shrimp and blackworms.

If they are anything like Brook Silversides, the food needs to stay within the top couple of inches or they will not eat it. The Brook Silversides would follow food sinking for a couple of inches and then go back to the top.

One of the foods I have used for small fish are Decapsulated brine shrimp and Golden Pearls. Both of them will float for a period of time. Golden Pearls can be bought in sizes from 5 micron to 800 microns. Might try Earthworm flakes ground up real fine.

Golden pearls are good. I just needed something quick. I put some saltwater rotifers in and they were eating eat. Here is my saltwater tank with silversides. They eat everything, from all levels of the water column.

Something else I have done in a pinch is to run pelleted food through a coffee grinder set on the finest setting. It seems to keep the fish going until I can get something better.
