The journal Fisheries has now published Kara Million's brief article on last April's BioBlitz and Darter Festival in the Birmingham, AL, area. It's available at http://www.tandfonli...DVZEup2nV/full

Nicely done article, and NANFA definitely has an appearance in name and credits. (Go Bryce!)

The complete story is yet to be.

You're right Casper, Kara's piece was heavily edited for space so the details are thin.

Mayhaps a less gutted version can find its way into AC. Looks like it came in between 2-3 pages in the journal. How long was the original piece?

Watch for yer next AC... marginally edited, even added some Latin for those who wish to know.  More and many more appropriate photos.

Kara's original submission was about a paragraph longer than the final version, the copy editors/layout design crew at Fisheries are ferocious in my experience. One thing they cut was mention of us finding burrhead shiners in the creek, a new species for Turkey Creek (I'm still congratulating myself.....).

Wasn't gonna let the cat out of the bag, but since it's out; a certain snorkel guru has indeed put together a very nice piece on said festival and blitz for the upcoming AC. Would still find it interesting to see Kara's article in its entirety. (Burrhead! Burrhead!)

My mailman made a special delivery today.  Lots of color pictures and i made the back cover thanks to a quick snap by Fritz.  Lance provided images for the front cover featuring a pair of fine Meramec Saddled Darters, local to perhaps where we will soon gather after a long Winter and beautiful Spring.

Thanks to all that make American Currents the fine publication it is.

I think Konrad could collate his various fish quest articles and he'd have the core of a somewhat different kind of autobiography.

As always, a great diversity of articles. My most-anticipated publication. Much thanks to all who make it happen, we know it's no easy task.

Yes, my article did get some trimming, but if a picture is truly worth a thousand words, Bryce's photos speak volumes more than my pen ever could. I do hope NANFans enjoy my tribute anyway. And I just saw Casper's article in American Currents---beautifully done!

I wouldn't mind if people wanted to see my longer article, and I've thought about writing up some of my darter breeding adventures for AC...

Kara helped me a bit with the editing, a good eye and clear thought motivator.  Here is a nifty picture of her holding a life sized Watercress Darter and a Vermillion and Rush displayed behind her.

Yeah... we've been meaning to talk to people about our runoff issues... mutant darters and all.

So did every NANFA member read the article?

Are you ready to participate in the event(s) next year?
