This fish was caught in Southern Wisconsin while on a trip, it was caught while carp fishing in a slough of a small river. I have tried and tried again and have failed to ID it, its a lifer for sure, but I need a name for the list! My immediate thought was common shiner, but I don't know if that's right or not.

I'd guess Common Shiner too if that's your local Luxilus species.

Yes Common Shiner, you can see the crowded scales right behind the head that are an ID feature of that species.
