We'll be netting the fishes of the creek and displaying in tanks. The Chicago Herpetological Society will be there with lots of turtles, snakes, etc., including some that kids can handle.
Anyone with waders and/or a net or seine is welcome to join us in the water in the morning, and anyone who's interested in seeing what we find should stop by in the afternoon. It runs from 12-4PM.

Last year we got about a dozen species, and I'm hoping to beat that this year.

Thanks for the information. I plan on catching shiners in Alabama this weekend, otherwise I would consider helping out.
